Wang Peiyu is the fourth-generation disciple of Peking Opera actor Yu Shuyan, specialized in playing the role of an old gentleman.
She graduated from the third postgraduate program for Peking Opera actors run by the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts. Currently, she is a first-class actress from the Shanghai Jingju Theatre Company and a member of the CPPCC Shanghai Municipal Committee. She studied under Wang Siji, Zhu Bingqian, Zhang Xuejin and other famous masters. Her repertoire includes The Story of the Orphan, Wenzhao Pass, and A Banquet for Successful Candidates of Imperial Examination.
She has inherited traditional skills, classic plays and continuously made explorations and innovations in the modes of transmission of Peking Opera art and actively put them into practice.
Wang Peiyu has won a variety of awards including Best Performance in the National TV Competition for Young Peking Opera Actors, China's Plum Performance Award, and the Leading Actor Award of the White Magnolia Drama Performing Arts.
