This event has now passed.Russian conductor Vasily Petrenko started his music education at the St Petersburg Capella Boys Music School – the oldest music school in Russia. Following considerable success in a number of international conducting competitions including the Fourth Prokofiev Conducting Competition in St Petersburg (2003), First Prize in the Shostakovich Choral Conducting Competition in St Petersburg (1997) and First Prize in the Sixth Cadaques International Conducting Competition in Spain, he was appointed Principal Conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in 2006 and became Chief Conductor in 2009.
Petrenko leads the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in a programme that includes Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain, Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op. 18, Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36 and more.
