Momo is based on the 1973 novel by German author Michael Ende. The book won Ende the German Youth Literature award and was later translated into 40 different languages selling more than seven million copies.
The story follows a young girl who appears in the city with no connections or clear background. She lives alone in an abandoned amphitheater. The story overall focuses on time and how people spend too much time distracted from human connection and nature.
