Beijing's best accessories shops

Your look's not complete without a stop to these Beijing spots

Beijing is blessed with more cute little jewellery and bag shops than you could possibly visit in a lifetime, but only a few really stand out. Here are our favourite spots for picking up the little extras that no stylish Beijinger can do without.

Gulou

Ziwu (子物)

Ziwu showcases a fine selection of leather goods. The main focus of the thumbnail-sized shop is on bags, both vintage and hand-stitched by the owners. You’ll find everything from small clutches to mid-sized totes and backpacks. We love the sleek, understated style of every piece.

Prices range from 100RMB to 1,500RMB, with most items tagged just under 1,000RMB. A small offering of jewellery from Brooklyn-based brand K/LLER is also on display.

Liangmaqiao

Juma

Sibling design team Alia and Jamil Juma are back in the capital, showcasing their new travel-inspired wears inside the Four Seasons Hotel.

Inspired by their travels around the world and their unique Indian-African roots, Juma’s psychedelic-yet-chic line of accessories and home décor use bright and bold digital designs extrapolated from images of Nairobi sunsets and traditional Turkish mosaic tiles on their pillows (725-825RMB), silk scarves (1,500RMB), socks (90RMB) and clutches (780RMB).

Qianmen

Ubi Gallery

In 2012, Dutch expat Machtelt Schelling founded sleek space Ubi Gallery to showcase contemporary artisan works. The shop specialises in jewellery and ceramics, primarily featuring designers from Asia and many with international backgrounds.

Pieces are unique, with many designers we haven’t seen elsewhere in Beijing. It’s a gorgeous array of work – we only wish our pockets were deep enough for one of everything.

Ishaveya

Jahanavi Bhaskar Laag, a Delhite raised in London, says her shop gives Beijingers a taste of what real Indian gems are all about with her collection of accessories from India’s young, hip designers – and it’s not all what you see in Bollywood flicks, either

At her Xingfucun shop, expect to see beautiful hand-stitched clutches made from raw silk (800-950RMB) from label Love to Bag, elegant earrings (starting at 200RMB) from designer Rahul Popli’s Amethyst brand and glittery goodies that are a far stretch from gaudy.
