Located just a few storefronts down from Great Leap's equally new branch, the newest eatery from fast-casual concept Obentos provides Lido diners with a refreshingly healthy and convenient option amid its luxe Nuo Center surrounds. Indeed, daytime sees Obentos Lido's light-filled confines regularly filled with a mix of nearby office workers and university students.
The menu stays close to the favourites seen in its previous branches – and with good reason, too. After so many years on Beijing's healthy eating scene, Obentos have their Japanese-inspired menu down pat, serving up a hearty range of bento boxes (the chicken teriyaki is a particular crowd pleaser), smoothie bowls (48RMB), poke bowls, salads and desserts. There's even cocktails, wine, sake and beer for those feeling less virtuous.
Beyond its casual, brunch-like bites, what makes Obentos a particular stand-out is its wealth of vegetarian and vegan options. Have specific dietary requirements? The menu comes with a handy guide listing which dishes are low fat, high protein, vegetarian, gluten-free, low carb, vegan and more. Bento boxes also offer the option of white, brown or vegetable rice, or coleslaw salad. So something for everyone, really.
