For those in the know, there’s a side door through which to enter Corner, which literally takes up a small corner of a large garage just east of Ditan Park; those not in the know will probably aim for the 'entrance' sign, which will see you walking into a small office before being shepherded down a dark corridor like many guests before you.
In fact, the café and garage are co-owned, with the former’s industrial design borrowing heavily from the latter. On a gloomy day, the concrete floors, bright spotlights and metal furnishings won’t satisfy those looking for a cozy nook to spend an afternoon in, but the coffee is solid and the pour-overs feature a range of imported beans at lower prices than it’s hutong neighbours a few blocks away – an espresso will set you back 17RMB, and a latte just 25RMB.
