Jing Wei Lou, or ‘House of Beijing Flavors’ speciallises in traditional Beijing food, and is always crowded with locals. Dishes include madoufu (sauted mung bean pulp), miancha (a ground millet-flour gruel), zha gezi (Chinese French fries made with mung bean flour), douzhi (fermented mung bean juice), as well as a range of mutton dishes.
A semi-open kitchen displays plump, honey-glazed ducks roasting in a wood-burning oven. The tables and chairs are made of solid wood, with an interior modelled after the traditional courtyard house to conjure the charm of old Beijing.
